...have fun tomoorow k?
Haha. You too!ü
With two text messages, I never imagined how emotional my day would be. Haay. Ganyan pala pag Ateneo-La Salle ang lumalaban.
I tagged my brother along (as best friend James had to study. pweh.), and I personally didn't like that. Freeloading. kweh. He didn't even TRY to wake up early to buy nice tickets. But fine. Instead of a number of friends I could've tagged with, nariyan naman si Roel.
We hitched with a friend of his to Araneta, got in around 3:15. I ran into lots of friends... la lang. Lucky brat lang pala ako. :p Mga taga-TnT (Yda, Ara, Sabsi, and the Babble Captain Pao T. [hehe malamang]), taga-Days (Bones, Jem, Waps, Josh, Ria, and si Mommy Anj on the Pep), taga-Kaingin (Balbie, CJ, Weng)...si Cara nandyan, grade 6 classmate kong si Paolo nandun din... and and... eh! some others I forget. :p Sorry. :p
Got to sit when the UST band vacated a large portion of the Upper Box B. Oks naman. Surprisingly, maluwag ang natagpuan kong silya. :) nice view too, for an Upper Box-B seat (which is the second to the worst seat in the house. haay.)
Well... how do I put it? La Salle is a technically superior team. Kinain nang buhay ang Eagles halos buong game. By the third quarter, Ateneo was down by fifteen points. Shet shet shet. And hearing the La Salle side cheer was starting to get to me... nakaka-down. Grabe.
Can I just add? La Salle's ace shooting guard, Joseph Yeo is a BEAST. Halimaw gumalaw. Ang galing galing nya talaga. He has so many mid-air shot adjustments when he drives to the hoop... you'd think he could slow time while he moved to make the shot count... hwow.
Then, I felt something shift in my pocket. I dug in. It was this rosewood rosary I wrote an FA essay on. :p Wow. Smelling its rosy scent, I fingered the ten beads around its simple hoop. I almost forgot it was there.
Down by 9, and almost halfway throught the 4th quarter, I thought, "What the heck? Hail Mary Squad it is." I started to pray. "Our Father", "Hail Mary"... basta ilang ulit din ako sa buong decada. Round and round my fingers went.
Then Larry Fonacier hits a 3. La Salle misses a shot, rebounded by Magnum Membrere. Hustle back with LA Tenorio driving deep into La Salle's defense. While I was praying, the house was rocking as the Blue Babble got into the game, and the team seemed to find their rhythm. This would go on for a whole five minutes. I just kept praying. I shut my eyes at times, using the cheering of the crowd to help prompt me to what was going on. And judging from what I heard, I had reason to smile...
We were fighting back. And hard.
With a layup from beneath the hoop, we were suddenly in the lead. Wow. I had run around 8 decades of the rosary, and I was having trouble enunciating my words. I was also yelling "One Big Fight", and I was feeling the fever pitch. Everyone waving a fist, a raised index finger, or jumping up and down to the drum's beat. It was crazy. Ang saya-saya.
At every "Hail Mary", Larry or LA or Magnum makes a free throw. At each "Glory Be", Joseph Yeo misses one. It was weird, seeing it happen. I clutched my Days cross, and just kept going...
And then... well... we won. And it was so cool.
:)
Of course, I refuse to say it was all because of the rosary...but maybe... just maybe. :)
