current music: 'Till They Take my Heart Away - Clair Marlo
RAPH IS ON HIATUS.
Yeah. You read right. I'll be away until Sunday, away on the 10th Heights Writers' Workshop. And it's only now that the sound of the words start to ring, only now that it calls a little child out of his hiding place in my chest.
Yeah. Excited na ako. But I haven't started packing. Meantime, bilin kong mensahe... .
..para sa mga Dayzers, hope the meeting on Saturday goes okay. Pls remember the string on my tag should be long, to compensate my thick neck. :p Give a hug and kiss for everyone from me (maging sinu man kayong sisipot. :p) salamat. Mami-miss ko kayo ah.
...para sa LnK, I'm sorry I had to ditch the meeting (on Saturday also. coincidences?), Execom eval pa man din. Sana di ako mapa-"chopping block" dahil sa stint kong deputy studcom. :p Sana pumasa kids natin sa UPCAT. Sana okey ang next summer. Sana nandyan ako kasama nyo. haay. Kayo miss ko na talaga. :D God bless.
...para sa Heightsers, kweh! :p Magkikita rin tayo. Pero, salamat ah. All this ain't possible w/o y'all.
...para sa mga hindi ko binaggit, thanks for the prayers and support. :) And if not, well, bahala na si Batman sa inyo.
Shout-out prayers to the Ateneo Blue Eagles and Larry Fonacier, as I will be away while they play. Hope they win that day.[Shucks, this Saturday will be more eventful than I initially realized.]
------------
So I spend my night listening to mp3's which I will be separated from for a while. And I've not really chatted with my family. Guess they're getting used to me being away. Sana naman hindi, as I've had issues about being needed.
I'm not even thinking about what's gonna happen. I'm looking for a bag for toiletries, a fresh pad/pile of clean paper, my toothbrush and toothpaste, towels, two good pens, and clothes. Lots of clothes, good for four days. And praying my grey bag can carry all these things.
To quote Sir D.M., you "write in white heat, edit in cold blood". I think I'll be running hot, and able to write a lot for a few days. Can't edit anthing anyway, including these posts. I just seem to be running running running...
And as hot as I run now, I wanna pack my bags, listen to M.Y.M.P.'s "Waiting in Vain" five more times, shave my beard off, and catch some sleep.I'm ready to go. Wish me luck y'all.

current music: Dream of Me - Kirsten Dunst
Being stranded for two and a half hours with a friend can, over the course of discussion, help you. So how did being stuck with Julian in the backwoods of Kalayaan Ave help? He helped me remember something I did not want to.
What was it in particular?
It was my particular phobia/quirk about witnessing girls cry in front of me. Especially if I'm powerless over the situation.
[And no, wala akong pina-patamaan dine. Just needed to share.]
In so doing, I feel like writing stuff again. And now that I know a thing or two, I'll give it a good shot. I suppose sharing things I felt then unprepared to share woke up my muse with a good shake and loud music. So now, the compelling need to be creative and to actually SAY SOMETHING is back.
I'll post it when I've edited it. Again. And again. Or maybe I won't. I've started the draft, and now I'm thinking of whether I'll add stuff or if I'll wait 'till I've cooled off and start editing.
Julian, salamat.
PS: I forgot the car was color-coded. And I made a U-Turn in front of cops. :p Buti na lang tanga mga pulis. :D

current music: Noypi - Babmoo (MTV Pilipinas performance)
because the last one i popped was a hit...
Another Reason Why I Don't Keep A Gun In The House
Billy Collins
The neighbors' dog will not stop barking.
He is barking the same high, rhythmic bark
that he barks every time they leave the house.
They must switch him on on their way out.
The neighbors' dog will not stop barking.
I close all the windows in the house
and put on a Beethoven symphony full blast
but I can still hear him muffled under the music,
barking, barking, barking,
and now I can see him sitting in the orchestra,
his head raised confidently as if Beethoven
had included a part for barking dog.
When the record finally ends he is still barking,
sitting there in the oboe section barking,
his eyes fixed on the conductor who is
entreating him with his baton
while the other musicians listen in respectful
silence to the famous barking dog solo,
that endless coda that first established
Beethoven as an innovative genius.
------------------------------------
Now that all my Philo papers, all my long tests for the next few weeks are all up, I'm finally psyched for that Heights Workshop. :)
Wish me luck people.

current music: silence, save for a TV with the news
Yes, everybody's still in shock with the game yesterday. *sigh* In case you've been living under a very big rock, Larry Fonacier's out for the season. ACL and MCL injury from the UP game. Hard to say what happened: I saw the game on TV, and the knee... just... gave. Like a cracked branch that finally decided when to fall.
It's awful. We won the battle, but might have lost the war. :(
Still, kaya yan. We're 4-0, and history has shown Ateneo's players know how to step up in cases of injury/suspension, and win big no matter what.
Kayang-kaya yan.
BELIEVE.

current music: Maghihintay Sa 'Yo - Akafellas
I wrote a very nice post last night, but the PC ate it up. So, I put off re-writing lest I pull my hair out. Heh.
So what's new with me? Hmm... well. :D
I ran into one of the really cute girls from my Philo class at Greenbelt yesterday. Twice. I think she was with her boyfriend, so fine fine. Good for her. Lucky dude. :p And I mean real lucky. The LnK friends know what my "Miss Manalo" looks like, so they'd get a very good idea why I think she's pretty. :D I've talked to her once or twice before. Kinda... well, slightly distant. She doesn't open up that well, but I guess she's just shy. Which is fine.
Ah. What am I doing? Besides, she's not the only cute girl in my class. ;p
I realize I'm lucky like that: I'm surrounded by beautiful people. The girls I know and befriend are prettier than the average lady on the street, while the guys who I chill with seize the attentions of many.
Yes, you're included. :)
Yeah, some people who've known be for a long time will not notice it until I start naming names, which I'm not priviledged to do here. It's too public here, and some people I've not heard from in a long time.
Yes, some of these people are shallow. Very much so. Yet, there will always be a good handful of people who surprise me. I'm lucky that way. Beauty surrounds me daily, both in a visual sense, and otherwise. :)
Anyway, I spent a large portion of my afternoon commuting from my home to Greenbelt. Which was sad, considering I commute from the house to Katipunan (1 jeep + 1 trike), then ride to Cubao-Araneta (LRT-3), then walk a bit deeper in Cubao area to ride up to Ayala Ave (EDSA MRT), then I get off at the Ayala Center. But I had to get to Greenbelt, right? So I took a very pricey taxi ride to get there. Damn. I spent two days' worth of savings. :(
So much for watching Irene's Tatarin in UP this Saturday. :(
Meantime, I'm thinking of playing some NBA Live 2004 on my PC for a while until I have to drive back for my FA class. I'm also thinking of editing my poem. But I dunno. I just hope Chimoms didn't use up the paper.

current music: poetry read aloud.
I never really befriended Sir Kael. I knew I talked to him once, in the Heights GA back in my freshman year. So I'm no friend of the great, one and only "rakstar". Nevertheless... here's something.
Baka Sakali
ni Mikael Co
Sapagkat walang sapilitang paglimot,
isinusulat ko ito.
Sapagkat nagbabakasakali akong
maaaring isilid sa salita ang gunita,
isinusulat ko ito.
Naririnig mo ba ako?
Ibinubulong ko ang pagnanasang
mapasaiyong muli.
Nanghihingi ako ng dahilang
mapasaiyong muli.
Sapagkat iniibig kita,
oo, iniibig pa rin kita:
sapagkat kaagaw ko sa kumot
ang multo ng iyong alaala,
sapagkat ikaw ang ginaw na tumatatak sa aking balat,
sapagkat simoy kang dumadaloy
Sapagkat nagbabakasakali akong
maaaring isilid sa salita ang gunita,
ang salita sa papel, at saka sunugin,
sunugin, sapagkat nagbabakasakali akong
maaaring tangayin ng hangin ang gunita,
sapagkat nagbabakasakali akong
may isang estrangherong
makalalanghap ng gusgusin kong gunita,
at hahanapin ka niya,
sintang hanggan ng kalawakan,
sintang multo ng alaala,
sintang estranghera sa gunita
ng estranghero ng gunita,
sapagkat nagbabakasakali akong
makikita ka niya, at iibigin ka niya,
at iibigin mo siya--
sapagkat iniibig kita,
oo, iniibig pa rin kita,
nagbabakasakali akong
sa kanya, sana, sa kanya, sinta,
lumigaya ka.

Tangina. nakaka-iyak nga. Why did I post this? Well... let's just say I'm tried to look to the past to get perspective with the present... and there's stuff I've not quite mentioned to people, or haven't brought up in a long time. So let's just call this a lapse.
To she-of-whom-I-never-speak-of-anymore-but-am-grateful-for-much ... I miss you. Para sa iyo itong boses kong nilulukot ng mga maliit at marahas na manggas ng luha.

Finally! From the Philippines comes a fresh dose of "senti rap"! :D Hehehe... I love rap when it's used as a love song... something different from the aggressive thugs/drugs/weed/hos talk that goes on all the time... Not since Common's "The Light" (arguably my favorite rap song of all time) has something like it come up.
Now if only I could understand what Sashi's talking about in the chorus.
------------
Sira ata blogger. I'll post back next time.

Kahit anong yanig nang mundo, kahit anong mangyari sakin... DI KO PAPALITAN ANG LAYOUT NA TO!!!
I don't care what Jason tells me, that layout design and writing in your blog are the same. NO THEY'RE NOT! Stupidity like that is what gives Creative Writing majors the bad name of being stupid people!!!
Writing and clicking with your mouse to change colors of a site are far, far different disciplines. Stupid stupid stupid...
All the worse pag may music ang blog mo. KADIRI.
Haay.
Sarap. I got that out of my system at last.

I tune into the TV, and I witness another CIA raid acquire secret computer code. This does not go 100% well. They are found out, and a gunfight ensues. The 'suspect' takes part of the code, attempts an escape which spills into a fantastic car chase.
And when I think it's over... voila. Alias has just started. :)
Aliw din ang Chubibo. :) Galeng. :D Salamat Irene, sa iyong 'plug'. :p
I'm supposed to be studying Theology. I think I'm getting overconfident. Hwah. Readings ko, gets ko. Mga notes ko, kumpleto naman.
Maybe I'm more concered with the car drive home. :D :D :D
Haay.
Oh by the way, UAAP Fans na naglalaro sa computer! Meron nang UAAP-NCAA Live mod para sa NBA Live 2004. :D Astig siya. Pero... parang mas magaling si Doug Kramer sa game kaysa sa tunay na buhay? :p

current music: Mouths Unplugged - Akafellas
...have fun tomoorow k?
Haha. You too!ü
With two text messages, I never imagined how emotional my day would be. Haay. Ganyan pala pag Ateneo-La Salle ang lumalaban.
I tagged my brother along (as best friend James had to study. pweh.), and I personally didn't like that. Freeloading. kweh. He didn't even TRY to wake up early to buy nice tickets. But fine. Instead of a number of friends I could've tagged with, nariyan naman si Roel.
We hitched with a friend of his to Araneta, got in around 3:15. I ran into lots of friends... la lang. Lucky brat lang pala ako. :p Mga taga-TnT (Yda, Ara, Sabsi, and the Babble Captain Pao T. [hehe malamang]), taga-Days (Bones, Jem, Waps, Josh, Ria, and si Mommy Anj on the Pep), taga-Kaingin (Balbie, CJ, Weng)...si Cara nandyan, grade 6 classmate kong si Paolo nandun din... and and... eh! some others I forget. :p Sorry. :p
Got to sit when the UST band vacated a large portion of the Upper Box B. Oks naman. Surprisingly, maluwag ang natagpuan kong silya. :) nice view too, for an Upper Box-B seat (which is the second to the worst seat in the house. haay.)
Well... how do I put it? La Salle is a technically superior team. Kinain nang buhay ang Eagles halos buong game. By the third quarter, Ateneo was down by fifteen points. Shet shet shet. And hearing the La Salle side cheer was starting to get to me... nakaka-down. Grabe.
Can I just add? La Salle's ace shooting guard, Joseph Yeo is a BEAST. Halimaw gumalaw. Ang galing galing nya talaga. He has so many mid-air shot adjustments when he drives to the hoop... you'd think he could slow time while he moved to make the shot count... hwow.
Then, I felt something shift in my pocket. I dug in. It was this rosewood rosary I wrote an FA essay on. :p Wow. Smelling its rosy scent, I fingered the ten beads around its simple hoop. I almost forgot it was there.
Down by 9, and almost halfway throught the 4th quarter, I thought, "What the heck? Hail Mary Squad it is." I started to pray. "Our Father", "Hail Mary"... basta ilang ulit din ako sa buong decada. Round and round my fingers went.
Then Larry Fonacier hits a 3. La Salle misses a shot, rebounded by Magnum Membrere. Hustle back with LA Tenorio driving deep into La Salle's defense. While I was praying, the house was rocking as the Blue Babble got into the game, and the team seemed to find their rhythm. This would go on for a whole five minutes. I just kept praying. I shut my eyes at times, using the cheering of the crowd to help prompt me to what was going on. And judging from what I heard, I had reason to smile...
We were fighting back. And hard.
With a layup from beneath the hoop, we were suddenly in the lead. Wow. I had run around 8 decades of the rosary, and I was having trouble enunciating my words. I was also yelling "One Big Fight", and I was feeling the fever pitch. Everyone waving a fist, a raised index finger, or jumping up and down to the drum's beat. It was crazy. Ang saya-saya.
At every "Hail Mary", Larry or LA or Magnum makes a free throw. At each "Glory Be", Joseph Yeo misses one. It was weird, seeing it happen. I clutched my Days cross, and just kept going...
And then... well... we won. And it was so cool.
:)
Of course, I refuse to say it was all because of the rosary...but maybe... just maybe. :)

current music: Jay Leno w/ Norah Jones. :D
When I finally need to write, I'm suddenly uncreative. Kweh.
Pero fine. Gagawin ko rin 'to. At all costs? Yeah. Why not.
Besdies, I just might make it.
------------
Am I in love? No. I know so.
Do I like her? Yeah. I'm sure of that.
Love ko ba siya?
Well...
yeah. ü
And it hurts too.
But maybe...
I don't love her like that.
And I know someday, maybe I can love her like that too. :)
------------
So... now what?
I do what I gotta do:
... write. :p
------------
I'm glad I shall FINALLY get to watch an Ateneo - La Salle game on Sunday. At long last! Yey! :) Atenista na talaga ako. :p
Saturday, I'm still conflicted between LnK or Basket. I think I'll teach on Saturday. I miss my friends. :)
------------
So... now what?
I do what I gotta do:
... write. :p

current music: wala. nasa TV lang ang "Samurai Deeper Kyo" which is another cool anime. :)
Today, I'm supposed to be writing for the 10th Heights Writers Workshop, as they extened the deadline. Bwiset. If I knew they'd get to extend the deadline, I'd have busted my ass writing as early as last Saturday!! Taklane.
Now I'm too lazy to cram my work. I've got a grand total of one new poem waiting to be revised. That's it. Everything else left are untouched works from way back, some slightly revised stuff, and some ewan things.
I had hoped to craft this story that keeps playing in my head, so I can silence the mutliple endings begging to see the light. Either way, I don't think I can do that anymore.
I can write a poem about it though.
Even if Sir Krip hasn't attended classes that religiously or taught me anything really really substantive to my writing, it's nice he showed us the basic stuff that make a poem. And that sort of stuff is helping me revise my works.
'Cept I've got only one work. And I don't wanna cram anymore.
Haay.
Regrets just seem to chase me, as hard as I heave to avoid their weight.

current music: Bongga Ka Day/Maghihintay sa 'Yo medley - The Akafellas.
So this is how TnT's party. :)
Yes, at Rache's egging, I got to crash a TnT party last night. It was then I realized that I'm not too bad at mingling with strangers after all. But then, these strangers, are, after all, TnTs (aka most fantastic people in Ateneo), so partida lang. They really were gonna be people I'd get to chill with a-ok.
Notables: Missy and Pao were hosts, and shet BENTA! Talagang bentang-benta. Sa awards, sa intros to acts... basta aliw. Narinig ko nanaman mag-beat box si Carlo I. and I gotta say he's getting really good at his thing. Yeah.:) Napa-costume din ang TnT core, 'tas pinalakad ni Mac mula Burgundy hanggang Video City... hehe. embarrassment. :p Daya lang; late si Raqs at TJ, so di sila pinalakad. Tsk. Still, it was something seeing Marc and Joboy march on the street from way up in Burgundy.
Other notables: nanalo ng award si Chinkin at Mitzi, nag-swimming kami ni Abet, nilaglag ako nina Jhel, Burn, Chinkin, Cong et al sa pool, at smooth operator na pala si Mac at best costume na pala si Yda. Other people on site were sina Grace, Lianne, Patch, Peter, Jomari, Birdie, Sabsi, Ara, Eleanor, Ria V. Ech...andami! Not sure about the spellings, met Jem, Retch, Timmy, and a slew of other new guys and girls. Real nice. :)
Nanalo kami ng swimming relay super charades. Yey. Rakstar nun. I was the first to swim dive in the drink. :D Lugi, kasi yung natalo dapat mababasa, pero di nangyari. May mga iba naka-takas. :p
On the way home, medyo minadali ako agad, at nalimutan ko ang pantalon, T-shirt, sinturong pinahiram ko kay TJ, rosary at Driver's licence ko.:p Buti na lang nakabalik kami ni Dad. Haay. :p
Oh yeah, secret's out: I helped Missy escape the basaan. :p
All in all, I had a fantastic evening. Missed another Days round though. haay.
Still, no regrets. This sorta thing only happens once a year, so I'm glad I made it. :) Thank you Rache for inviting, for the TnT's old and new for being so welcoming. :)
Next year na TnT na 'to. :D

current music: Everytime - Britney Spears (MTV)
May bago akong wristband! Nabili ko sa Eastwood. It's red, black and has white lettering with the word "McGrady" and "1". Hehehe. Handang-handa na para sa Rockets era. :D
That, plus the pricey trike ride home set me back a nice deal of cash. Sayang. I guess that puts me in a spot for a while.
No word from the basketboys yesterday. I'll probably just show up, but I dunno kung may sisipot. Si Charles lang nag-"YES" talaga.
Haaay. Salamat talaga sa Block E. I had a wonderful time. Special thanks to Yumi and Cerz who financed the thing, and for Edlyn for being considerate of my "fresh shiftee" status. haay. I've been "man without a nation" for quite a long while now. I'm technically STILL a "man w/o a nation".
Hirap ako mamili ng highlight of that day... it wasn't the Speed games (but that was darn fun). The billiards game was pretty darn fun. :) But I guess it was when nag-gaguhan kami ni Abet sa Fazoli's. :p Wahahaha.
"Mike Rotch? Anybody seen Mike Rotch?"
Mhen. Sinabi sakin may super nakaka-tawang expression si Abet nung narinig nya yung lumang Simpsons joke na yun. :D Y'all should've seen it. Priceless! Too bad I missed most of it. :p
Nakaka-senti ang music. Brings back memories. Hehehehe. :D
Irene, gusto kong manood! :D Hahanapin ko rin yang RJTV sa cable ko. Monday, 7 PM di ba? Game game game. :)
Today: hanapin ang Basketboys. and later in the evening, TnT party crash ako. :D (hahanapin ko pa nga sina Jhel kasi may utang akong 160. :p)
For once, everything (and I mean everything) is looking up. Hence, I have a sudden need to give back, help people's problems and listen. That sorta thing. :)
Haay. Salamat uli, Kuya Jess.
